A new look for The Brand Stylist Academy

The sharp-eyed amongst you may well have noticed that things are looking a little, well, sharper in The Brand Stylist Academy. I gave the site a mini makeover last Friday and I’m so excited to share the progress with you.

 The new, swizzed up design

The new, swizzed up design

I host all of my online courses on a platform called Thinkific, which after much research, works really well for me. I love the behind the scenes functionality, the pricing is keen and the support team really responsive.

One of my frustrations with any website is that I don’t necessarily have the skill to make it look precisely as I’d like it to. It’s one of the reasons Squarespace was such a revelation for this website. When I first launched the online courses, I had my web developers create a bespoke theme which would work inline with my old, Wordpress site.

The old design…

I found the spacing and typography frustrating here, it’s nice that with the new site I can create something that helps me pick out the key information (although it is really bugging me that the font for the bullets is so big and clunky)

It definitely felt better than what I could achieve with a theme. But you know how things are. Website designs move on all. the. time. What had felt quite smart, was beginning to feel quite clunky. And I was starting to notice all of the inconsistencies that I didn’t have the coding skills to resolve. Frustrating.

You can imagine how thrilled a design junkie like me was to discover that Thinkific have recently launched a Site Builder. A platform which puts me, the non-technical site owner, back in control of how my site looks. Cue slightly manic happy dance.

A bit cleaner, sharper, more elevated

And here’s how one of the course pages looks now. You’ll get a better sense if you skip on over to the site and have a mooch about yourself.

It’s still not ‘perfect’. I think it’s very hard to achieve that - whether you have a bespoke site or you’re using a template. But I love the light, airy feel and the added ‘space’ around the content. Those of you who’ve taken Design for Go Getters will know just how important space is in elevating your design.

I’d love to know what you think to the new look. I’d say it’s an evolution rather than a revolution. A case of tidying up and elevating what’s there rather than a whole new concept. But that’s part of staying ahead with your brand, right?

On that note, do remember that you have until next Friday to save 18% on all online courses. That means a saving of more than £50 on Design for Go-Getters (enrol for just £241), £38 off Colour for Creatives (enrol for just £172) and £27 off the Naming Masterclass (enrol for just £118). I look forward to seeing you in class!
